Gordon Hospital in Calhoun, Ga., will open its new, approximately $2 million Harris Radiation Therapy Center to patients by mid-November, according to a Calhoun Times report.
The center includes a new $2.5 million linear accelerator for radiation therapy and will also serve as a community resource for education and awareness, according to the report. In the past, patients in Calhoun had to travel outside the county for radiation therapy.
The hospital expects the facility to have 11 staff members, including dieticians, chaplains, nurses and a medical oncologist, among others.
The center is named after the Clarence E. Harris Foundation, which made the largest donation to the building with $1 million in funds.
