The following hospitals have announced construction plans or openings of new specialty centers, such as breast, oncology and cardiology centers. The list begins with the most recent announcement.
1. Oconee Medical Center in Seneca, S.C., opened its new Breast Care Center.
2. A $10 million grant by retired biotechnology leader and trustee board member Henri A. Termeer will help Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston build the Henri and Belinda Termeer Center for Targeted Therapies. The center will operate as part of the hospital's current cancer center.
3. Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton, Pa., broke ground on an $8 million cancer center.
4. Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Hospital and Clinics is partnering with Henderson, Nev.-based St. Rose Dominican Hospitals to expand the neurosurgery center in Henderson.
5. The $5 million Monroe (Mich.) Cancer Center, a joint venture partnership between Mercy Memorial Hospital System in Monroe, ProMedica and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit, opened on Sept. 1.
6. Lancaster (Pa.) General Health broke ground on its $44 million Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Center.
7. Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma, La., plans to open its $14.8 million Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in September.
8. Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va., opened its $11 million Regional Cancer Center.
9. Chandler (Ariz.) Regional Medical Center opened its $9.9 million expansion of its cardiac catheterization laboratory.
