Michigan's $5M Monroe Cancer Center Opens

The $5 million Monroe (Mich.) Cancer Center, a joint venture partnership between Mercy Memorial Hospital System in Monroe, ProMedica and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit, opened yesterday, according to a WTOL 11 report.

The 12,700-square-foot facility, which is located near the Mercy Memorial Hospital campus, includes radiation therapy by the Karmanos Cancer Institute, medical oncology by the Toledo Clinic and clinical trials and Cancer Connection support services from Mercy Memorial Hospital.

The joint venture was formed in 2009 to improve access to cancer care in the community, and each organization serves as an equal partner.
