Joseph Quagliata, president and CEO of South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, N.Y., has announced his plans to retire at the end of this year.
Mr. Quagliata came to South Nassau Communities Hospital in 1973 to work in the finance department. In May 1974, a few months after he began working, the hospital's CFO retired and Mr. Quagliata was promoted to the position, according to an LI Herald report. In 1998, he was named as president and CEO of the hospital.
Mr. Quagliata has overseen dramatic growth for South Nassau Communities Hospital during his tenure. In 2006, he led an expansion which increased the size of the inpatient unit and surgical units and added new labor and delivery rooms to the maternity ward.
