Ronald Paulus, MD, MBA, is president and CEO of Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health, a $1.2 billion integrated delivery system serving Western North Carolina.
Dr. Paulus has served Mission Health as CEO since September 2010. Under his tenure, the health system was named by Thomson Reuters as one of the Top 15 Health Systems in the nation. Mission Health was the only health system in North Carolina to receive this recognition.

Prior to joining Mission Health, Dr. Paulus served as executive vice president of clinical operations for Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System. He was responsible for the operations of its $1.3 billion clinical enterprise, which included two hospitals and a more than 800 multispecialty group as well as more than 40 ambulatory care facilities. Dr. Paulus served as Geisinger's chief innovation officer, where he was responsible for ensuring system-wide innovation.
Prior to his time at Geisinger, Dr. Paulus was co-founder, president and CEO of CareScience, a clinical solutions and data analytics provider. He has also published numerous peer-reviewed articles and speaks regularly on topics of healthcare quality and efficiency, innovation, physician leadership and new models of care.
