Bob Page is president and CEO of The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City. He joined the hospital in 1996 as vice president of organizational improvement and later served as COO. He was named president and CEO in 2007.
Mr. Page has played a strategic role in The University of Kansas Hospital's transformational journey from a financially troubled organization with poor patient and staff satisfaction to one of the top academic medical centers in the country. He has guided the hospital in bringing together outstanding patient care, leading-edge research and healthcare education to benefit the patients in the Kansas City area. Under Mr. Page's leadership, the hospital has received Magnet recognition and been named to U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals List for 2011 to 2012.
Mr. Page's leadership goes beyond operational improvement. He is active with Adelaide C. Ward Women's Heart Health Center and its program, A Change of Heart, which is dedicated to reducing heart disease. He has a special connection to improving women's heart health, as his mother had congestive heart failure.
Mr. Page began his career as a CPA for PricewaterhouseCoopers. From there, he moved into internal auditing and gained extensive experience in the healthcare industry in financial and auditing positions.
"Some 30 years ago, as a CPA, I decided to focus on healthcare and nothing I have done or will ever do professionally will be as meaningful. Helping people in critical moments of their lives provides lasting satisfaction. Even though I am not the one providing care at the bedside, I am part of the team that makes quality care possible. Knowing I am linked to this advanced care at the bedside, humbles me and makes me feel very fortunate," says Mr. Page.
