Mayo Clinic Launches Social Health Network for Healthcare Providers

Mayo Clinic's recently formed Center for Social Media, based in Rochester, Minn., has launched the Social Media Health Network, a network aimed to provide education conferences, webinars and development of social platforms for sharing training materials to healthcare providers, according to a Mayo Clinic news release.

The network, which will include international healthcare providers, will help participating members learn each other's best practices in implementing social media programs. Medical Director for Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media Victor Montori, MD, said the Social Media Health Network can be a tool for healthcare providers looking to use social media to help patients and improve healthcare on a global scale.

Charter members of the network include:

•    Bon Secours Health System in Marriottsville, Md.
•    Inova Health System in Falls Church, Va.
•    Mission Health System in Asheville, N.C.
•    Swedish Health Services in Seattle.
•    Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
