Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health is notifying more than 4,500 patients of a data breach discovered during a drug raid in Oakland, Calif., according to an Oakland Tribune report.
During a methamphetamine bust last month, investigators found personal patient information of patients who had received care at some Sutter hospitals, including Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland, Calif., Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch, Calif., and Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, Calif.
A Sutter Health spokesperson said officials cannot disclose how the information was obtained because of the ongoing investigation.
The personal patient information may include patient names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers and marital status.
Sutter Health has offered free credit monitoring services to the affected patients, according to the report.
