Google Cloud reorganizing leadership roles

Google Cloud rearranged its leadership of sales and partnerships operations amid heightened competition from Amazon's and Microsoft's cloud infrastructures, CNBC reported Jan. 28.

Rob Enslin, president of sales at Google's cloud unit, told employees in the department via email that Carolee Gearhart, global channel chief for the Google Cloud Platform and Google Workspace, would be leaving the company to take on a position elsewhere.

"With Carolee's departure, we are taking the opportunity to further refine our newly unified partner organization," Mr. Enslin wrote in the email.

Kevin Ichhpurani, vice president of global ecosystem, will take on an  additional role as the new leader of the channels business, replacing Ms. Gearhart.

Other changes to the Google Cloud internal structure include:

Bronwyn Hastings, former Citrix executive who previously oversaw partnerships, will aid Mr. Ichhpurani with the channels business.

Lindsey Scrase, who previously oversaw revenue for Google Cloud Platform and Workplace, will report to Greg Tomb, who manages sales for Workspace and security.

Ms. Scrase's new role has yet to be fully established.

The changes, according to the emails, were made to accelerate global sales as Google's market share in cloud infrastructure trails behind Amazon and Microsoft.
