The IT department has mostly been insulated from the slew of recent Big Tech job cuts; however, Capital One's recent cut of the "agile" team in its IT department could be a sign that IT workers aren't always safe, The Wall Street Journal reported Jan. 20.
The bank's layoffs affected 1,100 workers. The restructuring comes as job postings for tech jobs have declined for the second consecutive month, according to IT trade group CompTIA.
Some CIOs are looking toward job sharing, contract work and rotations to survive the economic crunch.
