Mass layoffs dominated the tech news cycle in 2022. However, a survey from ZipRecruiter found that 79 percent of laid-off tech workers were able to find a new job within three months of beginning their search, The Wall Street Journal reported Dec. 27.
Nearly 40 percent of laid-off tech workers were able to find a job less than a month after they started searching, according to the survey of 2,550 U.S. residents during the six months ending in mid-October. During the same time frame, 83 percent of all laid-off workers were able to reenter the workforce within three months of beginning their job search.
"Despite the widespread layoffs, hiring freezes, and cost-cutting taking place in tech, many tech workers are finding reemployment remarkably quickly," Julia Pollak, chief economist at ZipRecruiter, told the Journal. "They're still the most sought-after workers with the most in-demand skills."
