Healthcare technology company PointClickCare is entering into a data-sharing collaboration with Pfizer designed to provide insights into aging-related disorders.
The company hopes that the data collected can be used to design clinical trials and advance drug candidates. Senior citizens are often underrepresented in clinical trials since many live in long-term care facilities, according to a Nov. 8 PointClickCare news release.
"By analyzing real-world data, we can learn more about a patient population. And those insights can help guide our decisions about developing new therapies," Pfizer Senior Director Simon Dagenais, PhD, said. "Access to data on comorbidities, medications, vital signs, body weight, and physical function in older adults residing in long-term care through electronic medical records is very important to help us design clinical trials for this patient population."
