The Digital Health New York report evaluates exciting and innovative startups in the New York region as well as analyzes data, trends and people shifting the healthcare innovation space. The report highlighted 10 digital health themes that will be prominent in 2023:
- Mergers and acquisitions: According to the report, mergers and acquisitions in the healthcare space will continue to accelerate rapidly as Big Tech companies continue to invest in promising digital health startups.
- Profitability: Startups' profitability will be front and center as people look to invest.
- Inflation: As inflation continues to rise, patients will seek out alternatives to care to lower their costs.
- Mental health startups: Investments in mental health startups will increase as there is a continued focus on provider quality and access to these resources.
- Clinician burnout: Startups focusing on clinician burnout and dissatisfaction will continue to see tremendous opportunity, according to the report.
- Point solution fatigue: Employers will shutter some of their point solutions, tools and services that help users address specific issues, to avoid leaving consumers feeling like they have too many options to choose from.
- Startups must adjust: Due to the point in No. 6, digital health startups will have to adjust to the market in order to succeed, according to the report.
- Value-based care: New opportunities in the value-based care arena will emerge as there will be an emphasis on speciality.
- Non-traditional healthcare investors will exit: According to the report, non-traditional healthcare investors will exit the market, meaning more funding will come from people with direct expertise.
