Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health has named longtime leader Katrina Ascencio-Holmes, BSN, RN, as chief nurse officer.
Ms. Ascencio-Holmes has worked in a variety of executive positions since joining Sutter in 2009. Since July, she has served as interim CNO for the health system. Ms. Ascencio-Holmes has also served as CNO of Sutter Roseville (Calif.) Medical Center and interim CEO of Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital. During her tenure, she has played a key role in establishing surgery centers in California's Central Valley, according to a Jan. 6 news release.
As chief nurse officer, Ms. Ascencio-Holmes will oversee clinical practice, research and workforce development for the system's nursing workforce. She will work closely with William Isenburg, MD, Sutter's chief medical and quality officer, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, equitable care across care settings.
Sutter Health is a 22-hospital system, providing care in more than 100 communities across California. It also operates a network of surgery centers, with plans to open two dozen new locations by 2027.
