Digital tools have taken off in healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they might have the power to accelerate health equity, according to an article posted in World Economic Forum on Jan. 20.
The article was written by Shobana Komineni, executive vice chair of Apollo Hospitals, a multinational chain based in India. She wrote that technology allows for proactive healthcare by improving access to underserved communities. Ms. Komineni added that digital healthcare has the potential to close health gaps by fostering inclusion and allowing medical professionals to spend more time treating patients.
Digital healthcare also permits collaboration in a way traditional healthcare does not accommodate, potentially helping drive innovation, Ms. Komineni wrote.
To ensure digital health produces the largest benefits for all, connectivity and accessibility of digital health tools need to be addressed, she wrote.
