Digital therapeutics company Constant Therapy Health won the $100,000 Hearst Health Prize for excellence in data science selected by experts at the UCLA Center for SMART Health in Los Angeles.
Constant Therapy uses machine learning to identify the optimal therapy exercises for patients based on factors such as their past performance and the performance of similar patient types. The company's at-home solution has helped patients with traumatic brain injury or stroke improve their cognitive and language skills.
"Not only does this solution support patients recovering from traumatic brain injuries and other neurological disorders — it helps the healthcare system overall by addressing a need where clinical resources can be scarce," Arash Naeim, MD, PhD, co-director of UCLA Center for SMART Health, said in a Nov. 2 center news release.
Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger earned $25,000 as one of two finalists for its population health solution that employs data to identify at-risk individuals for care.
