Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network is partnering with DocASAP to implement a system allowing patients to book appointments online.
The self-scheduling "find care" tool integrates Allegheny Health Networks's MyChart system and provides patients' mobile confirmation notifications. The health network hopes the feature will improve the patient experience through less time on the phone, according to a Sept. 26 news release from Allegheny.
DocASAP is part of health IT company Optum.
"Our physicians understand that providing world-class medicine is only one part of the care equation," Donald Whiting, MD, Allegheny chief medical officer, said in the release. "Ensuring convenient access to our providers allows patients to more easily take advantage of the many medical services that we offer."
