CMS has finalized its decision to change the supervision requirement for 27 hospital outpatient therapeutic services from direct supervision to general supervision, according to an AHA News Now report.
The supervision change officially begins July 1 and means that the presence of a physician or non-physician practitioner will not be required for 27 outpatient therapeutic services that deal mostly with psychotherapy. Other services relate to bladder catheterization, immunization administration and smoking and tobacco cessation counseling.
