CMS has announced it has created the Office of Information Products and Data Analytics to oversee the agency's portfolio of data and information.
CMS is calling the office's creation "a key tool in the agency's evolution from a fee-for-service based payor to a value-based purchaser of care."
The OIPDA will oversee the development, management, use and dissemination of data and information resources for the agency that will be used in its decision making. It is also tasked with improving data access and dissemination, and enabling the development of new products and analysis tools designed to better highlight relevant and actionable information for internal and external policy and decision makers.
