Fifteen health systems were named among the top U.S. workplaces for disability inclusion by the 2023 Disability Equality Index, a joint initiative with the American Association of People with Disabilities.
This year, 485 companies participated in the index. Companies are assessed for disability inclusion across six categories. Five are weighted: culture and leadership, enterprise-wide access, community engagement, supplier diversity and employment practices. Employment practices carry the most weight, accounting for benefits, recruitment, retention, education, advancement and accommodations. One non-weighted measure — non-U.S. operations — is also included in the index.
