University of California, Union Reach Tentative Deal

Members of a union representing healthcare professionals, researchers and technical employees are expected to vote on a tentative contract with the University of California this week, according to a Los Angeles Times report.

The possible contract for the University Professional & Technical Employees union includes an 11.5 percent to 13 percent cost-of-living wage increase over four years, according to the report.

"It's been a long road. We are pleased that we were able to negotiate a fair agreement with our employees," a UC spokeswoman said, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The University Professional & Technical Employees union is not the union that recently went on strike at UC medical centers — that was AFSCME, which represents patient care workers and service employees in the system.
