The National Nurse's Union at the Hospitals of Providence Memorial Campus in El Paso, Texas, demonstrated last week over staffing issues, according to a KVIA report.
Here are three things to know about the demonstration.
1. The demonstration took place as the union is trying to reach an agreement with hospital management on staffing in the operating room, staffing in labor and delivery and staffing and supplies in the neonatal intensive care unit.
2. The union claims nurses at the hospital aren't able to provide the type of bedside care they want to provide with these staffing issues, according to the report.
3. In response to the demonstration, hospital management released the following statement: "While we recognize the rights of the union to hold this event, we remain focused on our mission of providing high-quality, patient-centered care to our community. As is our practice, we will continue attempting to work with the NNOC in the best interest of our staff, our patients and our hospital."
