Nurses at 19 of San Francisco-based Dignity Health's hospitals will rally Friday over changes to retirement benefits, according to a Santa Maria Times report.
The rallies were organized by the California Nurses Association and the National Nurses Organizing Committee-Nevada. Dignity Health reportedly plans to reduce nurses' pension benefits by up to 30 percent.
According to Dignity Health, the system is making the pension changes using the Pension Protection Act of 2006 as a guide, and the changes reflect "current market conditions and increased life expectancies," the Santa Maria Times reported.
