Newark, Del.-based ChristianaCare is offering patients a subscription service for virtual primary care services offering faster and more personalized care, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported March 16.
"We want to be the Amazon of healthcare," said Sharon Anderson, registered nurse and president of ChristianaCare's Center for Virtual Health. "We want to deliver healthcare in your home."
Starting at $35 a month for children and $65 a month for patients over the age of 65, ChristianaCare's virtual care subscription service is available to patients in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Florida.
The charges start at a flat monthly rate.
Once enrolled, patients can be matched with a patient digital advisor to help them set up visits and receive tools to monitor blood pressure, weight and temperature.
The approach, called direct primary care, is a growing trend as high out-of-pocket costs and copays have been making healthcare unaffordable for some patients.
