On the first day Farmington, Conn.-based UConn John Dempsey Hospital deployed telesitters, the hospital avoided two potential patient falls, the organization said in a Nov. 7 post.
Electronic video monitoring (EVM) technicians identified the fall risks and triggered the stat alarm. "Within seconds, a nurse rushed into the room and redirected the patient to prevent a negative outcome," Jason Cardona, IT project manager for UConn Health, said.
The hospital's remote sitter techs can access patient rooms through 15 telesitters, or EVM camera carts, and monitor up to eight patients in real time.
