Senior healthcare platform Independa will equip each 2021 and 2022 LG television with a telehealth app and health education platform, The Verge reported Jan. 4.
The Independa app will represent the first telehealth service to be offered on LG TVs and will provide an interactive interface that includes 24/7 access to a professional telehealth provider. The hub is geared toward the elderly.
Conducting telemedicine video calls through a TV may be more helpful for both patients with vision issues as well as physicians as it provides more room for movement.
"You can't hold your phone out far enough to show the right thing. Versus on the TV, you can walk around, you can bend your arm — the actual engagement becomes more effective," Independa CEO Kian Saneii told The Verge.
