Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare is rolling out a telehealth service for pediatric patients.
The service will be available 24/7. The goal is to provide care to patients in their home communities and improve patient satisfaction, according to the Sept. 16 Intermountain Healthcare news release.
"We've found that about 80 percent of pediatric emergency, trauma and intensive care unit patients who've been transferred to Primary Children's are discharged within 24 hours. During a six-month trial period of this new telehealth pediatric service, about half of those pediatric emergency patients are now able to safely stay in their local communities," said Katrina Jensen, RN, a pediatric nurse with Intermountain Healthcare.
