Wellesley, Mass.-based Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Doctor On Demand teamed up to launch virtual choice — a plan that allows adult patients to choose if they want to receive primary care virtually or in person.
An April 28 news release said the partnership will allow patients to have a variety of virtual care options from anywhere in the world.
Seven details:
- The plan will be available to all adult family members over the age of 19.
- The plan will be offered to large employers, with at least 51 subscribers, in Connecticut this September.
- Virtual choice plan members will have 24/7 access to primary care physicians through virtual visits with Doctor On Demand.
- Members will be able to receive virtual visits from anywhere in the world by finding providers through the Doctor On Demand website or app, with a lower PCP visit cost-sharing than with in-person offerings.
- Once a patient chooses a virtual PCP, all visits will take place through video or voice communications through phone, tablet or computer.
- Members who want in-office visits will choose one from Harvard Pilgrim's local provider network.
- Members who do not choose the virtual choice plan will still have access to Doctor On Demand's urgent care telehealth services through their existing plans.
