Orlando-based Florida Hospital is teaming up with World Housing Solution, which recently launched its Clinics on Wheels division, to provide telemedicine services in Puerto Rico, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
As part of the agreement, World Housing Solution will send three mobile clinics to the island of Vieques in Puerto Rico.
The solar-powered clinics offer X-ray services as well as primary and dental care, and with help from the Florida Hospital Nicholson Center — Florida Hospital's medical research and teaching facility — and the Puerto Rico Department of Health, they will also be equipped high-definition video conferencing that can connect patients to medical experts at the main hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
"We originally created our telemedicine technology to provide revolutionary remote medical training across the globe," said Scott Bond, the senior director of the Florida Hospital Nicholson Center, in a news release. "The fact that we can now work with World Housing Solution to bring this technology to help thousands of Americans get the healthcare they need is fantastic."
