Annapolis, Md.-based ClearHealth Quality Institute, an independent healthcare accrediting firm, rolled out a telemedicine accreditation program and is now accepting applicants.
As part of CHQI's Telemedicine Accreditation Program — which is endorsed by the American Telemedicine Association — the firm released a TAP standards and guide, which replaces the ATA's accreditation program. The TAP's standards and guide were created in partnership with the ATA to update and expand the ATA's 2015 accreditation program for online patient consultations. The program underwent a public comment period and beta test cycle.
"The CHQI Telemedicine Standards Committee, comprised of relevant stakeholders such as providers, regulators, payers, consumers and technology companies, thoroughly vetted the TAP standards to ensure they are the most comprehensive set of national accreditation measures for assessing the quality and safety of telemedicine programs and services," said Alexis Gilroy, a lawyer who is a partner at Jones Day and also serves as an ATA board member and co-chair on the CHQI Telemedicine Standards Committee.
