Canopy Health, a physician- and hospital-owned medical alliance, partnered with American Well to leverage its web and mobile software development kit to provide telehealth services.
The partnership will enable Canopy Health to offer virtual care to its members. The alliance launched the MyCanopyHealth mobile application, which features video-based visits powered by American Well.
"American Well's innovative software development kit is instrumental to our digital presence and allows us to make nimble changes and updates quickly," said Aman Bhasin, CIO at Canopy Health. "This will continue to improve the videoconferencing feature of our mobile app and the member experience as a whole."
The video visits feature allows patients with non-emergency conditions to speak with a clinician. Summaries of the visit are stored in a private dashboard on the app and can be shared with the patient's primary care physician.
Canopy Health was incorporated in March 2015 as an affiliation between University of California San Francisco Health and Walnut Creek, Calif.-based John Muir Health. It includes four physician groups and 18 participating medical centers.
