U of Miami Health System launches distribution center

The University of Miami Health System recently debuted its distribution center and will feature Tecsys software to bolster its supply chain resiliency, according to Tecsys, a supply chain management software company.

As the system shuffles away from just-in-time inventory, the 20,000-square-foot warehouse is tailored "with self-distribution for a select group of critical items" to better prepare for emergencies, such as when hurricanes disrupt the supply chain.

"We are now equipped to remain proactive and respond nimbly to supply and demand anomalies, confident that we know what we have on our shelves and how we need to adjust to avoid supply disruptions to patient-facing clinical teams," Keith Murphy, chief supply chain officer of UHealth and Miller School of Medicine, said in a Nov. 15 statement.
