Dr. Reddy's recalls 1k cancer drug vials over container defect: 4 things to know

Dr. Reddy's Laboratories on Jan. 9 recalled 1,051 vials of the cancer drug Docetaxel, according to the FDA's enforcement report for the week of Jan. 17.

Here are four things to know.

1. Docetaxel is a chemotherapy drug used to treat various cancers, including breast, lung, prostate and stomach cancer.

2. Dr. Reddy's recalled the drug after receiving reports of a defect in the injection vials' aluminum seal.

3. The drugmaker distributed the affected product nationwide in the U.S., Uzbekistan and Myanmar.

4. Dr. Reddy's is notifying customers of the recall, which is ongoing, via letters.
