By the end of 2024, DHL Supply Chain will expand its network of warehouse facilities from 35 to 40 and invest $200 million into its life sciences and healthcare capabilities.
DHL is constructing warehouses in Pennsylvania and North Carolina in response to an "upsurge in the pharmaceutical landscape" from weight loss and diabetes drugs, according to a Feb. 13 news release from the contract logistics company.
The Pennsylvania site will be closer to major pharmaceutical hubs and research organizations to speed up distribution, and the North Carolina facilities "will cater to the growing demand for life sciences logistics in the southeast region, offering proximity to major airports and transportation infrastructure," DHL said.
