CVS Health will offer next-day delivery for prescription drugs and other retail products at its 9,700 stores nationwide next year, according to USA Today.
Here are four things to know.
1. CVS CEO Larry Merlo announced the new delivery services Monday.
2. While all stores will offer next-day delivery in 2018, CVS locations in Miami, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco will offer same-day delivery, according to Mr. Merlo. Stores in Manhattan will also offer free same-day deliveries starting Dec. 4.
3. The move comes as CVS is experiencing declining in-store sales and reduced earnings from hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
4. Some members of the healthcare industry believe CVS rolled out the new delivery services to prepare for Amazon's rumored pharmacy market entrance, which could pose serious competition to retail pharmacy chains.
