Another push to repeal Medical Device Tax follows low IRS revenue report

After the IRS released a report showing revenue from the Medical Device Tax was below projections, Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.) has started a new push to repeal the controversial tax, according to a report by The Hill.

Sen. Coats said the medical device tax is "one of the most harmful taxes" in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and says its implementation "stifles innovations and kills jobs," according to the report.

Many legislators opposing the tax represent states with a large medical device manufacturer presence, such as Minnesota and Indiana.

"Given this bipartisan agreement and the more than 20,000 Hoosiers who are directly employed by medical device manufacturers, this tax needs to be repealed immediately," Coats said, according to the report.
