Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa (Calif.) has broken ground on a $284 million replacement hospital, according to a RealEstateRama report.
The 182,300-square-foot, 84-bed facility will include a 40-bed medical/surgical unit, a 12-bay emergency department, a 24-bed observation unit, an imaging department, six operating rooms, a 10-bed post-anesthesia care unit and a 12-bed intensive care unit. The hospital will also house a family birthing center with two labor pool rooms, a 20-bed post-partum unit, two C-section rooms, a 12-bed newborn intensive care unit and a family sleep room.
In addition, Sutter Medical Center is adopting several sustainability strategies for the new hospital to achieve LEED Silver certification, according to the report.
The facility is expected to open in October 2014.
