Cleveland Clinic and GE Healthcare were named the first two "big-name" tenants for the Medical Mart, a healthcare complex aimed at attracting visitors and stimulating the economy in Greater Cleveland, according to a WKYC-TV report.
The $465 million Medical Mart is partnered with Cleveland Convention Center's trade show and conference rooms and will be a center for healthcare innovation, education and commerce. The first floor will feature health and home care; the second floor will feature people, patients and caregivers; the third floor will focus on clinical spaces; and the fourth floor will showcase healthcare IT.
Cleveland Clinic plans to host physicians at the Medical Mart to discuss and observe new treatments. GE Healthcare plans to create a laboratory including all its products for treating disease, according to the report.
While the complex has more than half its tenant space filled — with tenants including Cleveland State, Tri-C and BioEnterprise — Cleveland Clinic and GE Healthcare are the first two big, prominent organizations to join. Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald and Jim Bennett, vice president of MMPI, a company managing the Medical Mart, hope these two well-known tenants will spur interest from other top medical organizations, according to the report.
