Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford has begun a five-year strategic plan to enhance its position in the marketplace, according to a Hartford Business report.
The hospital is working to update technology, improve patient care and reach a wider population. Over five years, the hospital plans to invest up to $100 million in infrastructure, technology, research and healthcare services. Some of the investments are included below.

3. The hospital is investing $38 million in updating its information technology as the organization moves toward creating a standalone IT department instead of having a shared service agreement with Hartford (Conn.) Hospital, according to the report.
4. The hospital launched an Office for Community Child Health to consolidate community programs for preventive pediatric care and test different healthcare delivery models.
