Alameda (Calif.) Hospital officially became a part of Oakland, Calif.-based Alameda Health System.

Centura Health in Englewood, Colo., and Middle Park Medical Center in Kremmling, Colo., signed a management agreement.

The Rhode Island Department of Health and Attorney General Peter Kilmartin approved the joint venture between Providence, R.I.-based CharterCare Health Partners and Santa Ana, Calif.-based Prospect Medical Holdings.

CHE Trinity Health, based in Livonia, Mich., and St. Louis-based Ascension Health collaborated with physician leaders in Michigan to create a statewide clinically integrated network of healthcare providers.

CHE Trinity Health signed a non-binding letter of intent to sell Mercy Hospital Cadillac (Mich.) and Mercy Hospital Grayling (Mich.) to Traverse City, Mich.-based Munson Healthcare.

Kindred Healthcare, a post-acute care services provider based in Louisville, Ky., made an unsolicited proposal to acquire Atlanta-based home health and hospice services provider Gentiva Health Services in a transaction that would be valued at $1.6 billion.

Lawrence (Mass.) General Hospital, a 189-bed independent community hospital, expanded its clinical affiliation with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Mendota (Ill.) Community Hospital signed a letter of intent to affiliate with Peoria, Ill.-based OSF Healthcare System.

Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center, a 175-bed hospital in Lewiston, N.Y., agreed to become a full member of Catholic Health.

Northwestern Memorial HealthCare in Chicago and Cadence Health in Winfield, Ill., approved a definitive merger agreement.

North Shore-LIJ Health System in Great Neck, N.Y., and Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., ratified a letter of intent that would bring Phelps into the North Shore-LIJ network.

Ochsner Health System, one of Louisiana's largest health systems, based in New Orleans, and St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, La., signed a letter of intent to affiliate.
