CNBC released its annual list of 100 promising young startups and 14 healthcare-related companies made the list.
The list, called the Upstart 100, features a diverse group of companies that were selected from more than 500 nominees. Each nominee as scored on eight quantitative metrics, including things like scalability, sales growth and workforce diversity.

2. Buoy Health — has a digital health app and artificial intelligence-based diagnostic assistant
3. Candid — offers direct-to-consumer orthodontic products
4. Carrot Fertility — helps employers design a fertility benefits plan
5. Curology — offers personalized acne care via online consultations
6. DocSynk — provides data analytics for healthcare practices
7. HabitNu — a digital program designed to help patients manage diabetes
8. Keeps — a healthcare company focused on male pattern baldness prevention and treatment
9. Nurx — a telemedicine platform focused on birth control and HIV prevention
10. Quip — a dental care service provider
11. RDMD— analyzes patient medical records to help drugmakers develop rare disease treatments
12. SciBack — makes drugs using microbes that treat and prevent antibiotic resistant diseases
13. Solv — a mobile app for booking same-day physician appointments
14. Viome— offers genetic sequencing and analysis of the microbiome to prevent chronic diseases
