Becker's has compiled a list of hospitals with the highest and lowest 30-day readmission rates using data from CMS' Care Compare website.
The agency's 30-day unplanned hospitalwide readmission measure is an estimate of unplanned readmission to any acute care hospital within 30 days of discharge from a hospitalization for any cause. The measure includes all eligible medical, surgical and gynecological, neurological, cardiovascular, and cardiorespiratory admissions. Learn more about the measure here.
The data was released April 26 and represents admissions recorded from July 2020 through June 2021. Data from the first and second quarters of 2020 were excluded due to the effects from the COVID-19 pandemic, CMS said.
The national 30-day rate of readmission after discharge was 15 percent, data shows.
