The western U.S. sports half of the 10 healthiest counties in America, while 60% of the unhealthiest communities are located in Texas, according to a recent analysis from MarketWatch.
The company analyzed data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Agriculture; Census Bureau's American Community Survey; and University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute's County Health Rankings Roadmap to rank counties on several metrics of health, including life expectancy, median air quality, percentage of food insecure households and number of residents per primary care physician.
