The National Prevention Council has released its action plan (pdf) to meet goals outlined in its National Prevention Strategy.
The action plan describes three commitments the National Prevention Council is making to achieve the priorities of the National Prevention Strategy. These commitments include the following:
• Identify opportunities to consider prevention and health within National Prevention Council departments and encourage partners to do so voluntarily as appropriate.
• Increase tobacco free environments within National Prevention Council departments and encourage partners to do so voluntarily as appropriate.
• Increase access to healthy, affordable food within National Prevention Council departments and encourage partners to do so voluntarily as appropriate.
The strategy's priorities include tobacco-free living; drug abuse and excessive alcohol use prevention; healthy eating; active living; injury- and violence-free living; reproductive and sexual health; and mental and emotional wellbeing.
