Federal Prevention Council Releases National Prevention Strategy

The National Prevention, Health Promotion, and Public Health Council, which is composed of 17 federal agencies, has released its National Prevention and Health Promotion Strategy, a comprehensive plan designed to promote health and well-being among Americans, according to an HHS news release.

The National Prevention Strategy outlines four strategic directions:

•    Building healthy and safe community environments
•    Expanding quality preventive services in both clinical and community settings
•    Empowering people to make healthy choices
•    Eliminating health disparities

The Obama administration is already working to help support and achieve the goals outlined in the National Prevention Strategy.
