The East Carolina University College of Nursing and ECU Health, both based in Greenville, N.C., have partnered to launch an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification program.
The AGACNP certification will train nurse practitioners to provide specialized, acute care in the state, according to an Aug. 12 news release from ECU Health.
ECU Health and the ECU College of Nursing have an academic-practice partnership that was established by a $1.5 million investment from ECU Health. This funding provides the College of Nursing with the resources needed to support and facilitate the AGACNP program.
The first cohort of students will begin classes in spring 2025. There will be 12 seats in the program, with six of those seats reserved for ECU Health employees.
Prospective applicants must already hold a master's degree in advanced practice nursing and will be eligible to take the AGACNP exam after completion of the program, the release said.
