Patients of health systems that partner with RxLink will now receive pricing information on prescription medications offered through Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drugs Co.
The two announced a new partnership May 7 in which RxLink's MedMap platform, which delivers lowest-cost recommendations for prescribed medications based on a patient's insurance, third-party discounts and manufacturer offers, incorporates Cost Plus Drugs.
In the three months since partnering with Mr. Cuban's pharmaceutical company, the MedMap platform has identified more than $162,000 in patient savings.
"There has never been a solution that allows patients to easily understand exactly what their medications will cost before they go to the pharmacy," JB Powell, head of strategic partnerships at RxLink, said in a news release. "If we identify ways to reduce out-of-pocket costs, we connect the patient with them automatically; those options would be incomplete without including Cost Plus Drugs' low and transparent pricing."
Cost Plus Drugs launched in January 2022 and now sells hundreds of generics and about 20 branded medications at a discounted rate, based on the following pricing model: manufacturing cost, plus a 15% markup, $5 pharmacy fee and $5 shipping fee.
