Amazon rolls out RxPass prescription service for $5 per month

Amazon Pharmacy rolled out RxPass, a $5 per month medication prescription service, on Jan. 24.

RxPass will offer commonly prescribed generic medications for more than 80 common health conditions, according to a company press release. The release touts it as a way for patients with chronic illness who take multiple medications to save money and time. Medications are delivered free of charge as part of the Prime membership program.

Prescriptions can be paid for with or without insurance. Amazon Pharmacy offers transparent pricing for customers and payment options for those without insurance, according to the release.

Prime members can also get up to 80 percent off generic and 40 percent off brand name medications at participating pharmacies through the Prime prescription savings benefit program, according to the release.
