PharmStars, the first pharma-focused accelerator for digital health startups, launched June 1.

Four things to know about the new accelerator:

  1. The program seeks to educate and mentor startups by connecting them with pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Using a 10-week curriculum, PharmStars helps digital health startups better understand what makes large pharmaceutical companies adopt new technologies.

  2. PharmStars was founded by Naomi Fried, PhD, who has previously held innovation executive roles at Boston Children's Hospital and Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente.

  3. The program will be funded by participating pharmaceutical companies.

  4. The inaugural group of digital health startups will begin the program Sept. 1. The 2021 program will be held virtually and open to startups from all over the world.
