Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacies will close 22 storefronts in California after it was acquired by Walgreens, The U.S. Sun reported Feb. 11.
Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacies filed for bankruptcy in December but had signed a $19.35 million deal with Walgreens, which was recently approved. Medly Health, a digital pharmacy business, acquired Boulder, Colo.-based Pharmaca roughly a year before Pharmaca went bankrupt, giving Walgreens control of Medly's assets as well.
"We are pleased to have reached agreement to acquire the pharmaceutical records and other select assets across 22 Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacies and four Medly Pharmacies nationally," Walgreens spokesperson Kris Lathan told the Sun. "Although specific store details are being finalized given bankruptcy court's ruling Tuesday, prescription files and inventory are expected to be transferred to nearby Walgreens by mid-February."
